Maia Reficco and Kit Connor are both making their Broadway debuts this starry season!
When the Pretty Little Liars alum, 24, opened up to PEOPLE last month about taking over the role of Eurydice in the Broadway production of Hadestown, opposite Jordan Fisher, she also spoke about her former costar Connor, 20, coming to the Main Stem this month in the upcoming production of Romeo + Juliet.
"He's so wonderful," Reficco says of Connor, whom she stars opposite in the highly anticipated film adaptation of A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. "I can't wait for him to do his debut."
"It's so crazy how timing works," she adds, about the two sharing the Broadway board this fall.

Reficco tells PEOPLE she felt "very excited" when she saw Connor's announcement, which came roughly a month after her own for Anaïs Mitchell’s eight-time Tony Award-winning musical.
He'll be starring opposite Rachel Zeglerin Sam Gold's production of the William Shakespeare tragic romance. Performancesbegin Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Circle in the Square Theatre, ahead of an official opening on Thursday, Oct. 24. The show is currently scheduled for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025.
Reflecting on her time so far on the Broadway stage, which began in July and will continue through Jan. 12, 2025, Reficco encourages Connor to "enjoy it!"
"It goes by so fast. I'm already a month into my run and it feels like I opened last night," she says when asked if there's any advice she'd like to rely to her colleague. "So that's my biggest thing for anybody who does theater. Enjoy it. Allow yourself to feel every emotion. Because it will inevitably remind you of why you love doing what you do."
The two share a budding romance in A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, which does not yet have a release date despite wrapping filming in September 2022. The romantic flick is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Laura Taylor Namey and follows a woman after the loss of her grandmother.
"Lila leaves her life at Abuela’s Cuban bakery in Miami to spend the summer cooking at her aunt’s inn in Winchester. It’s there that she falls in love with the quaint British countryside, fusion cooking and a charming British tea shop clerk…ultimately using food as a way to bridge two cultures and heal her heart," reads a description of the movie, per Deadline.
In a 2022 interview with Teen Vogue, Reficco commented on her closeness with Connor while also sharing her love for his show, Heartstopper.
"Working with Kit was such a dream, he’s such a sweetheart, one of the most brilliant actors. We got along so well from the get-go," she said. "He’s become one of my favorite people. I was so excited to meet him because I loved [Heartstopper] beforehand, but after getting to work with him and learning from him, we became each other’s biggest cheerleaders."
As fans wait to see that film on the big screen, Reficco can currently be seen opposite KJ Apa, Eric Dane and Edward James Olmosin One Fast Move, streaming now on Prime Video. “It's a fun action-packed film with drama, love — the whole nine," Reficco says. "We had the best time shooting it, so I'm excited for the world to be able to see it."
And for those who do, Reficco expects to hear about it on the stage door, where night after night she's been interacting with fans showing her their support.
"It's crazy, it's such an honor," she says. First and foremost, I can't believe people stay to wait for me to come out, but they also stay with such love and such generous, beautiful, supportive energy. And getting to see their faces after the show? So many people are still crying when we go out! It's beautiful, it's so moving."
